Travelling to St. Lucia is by far the best vacation I've even been on. I've been to some of the hottest islands including Belize, Aruba, and Cuba but St. Lucia was by far the best. Out of all 8 carribean Island's I have visited St. Lucia is the most Americanized. We were surprised to see some of the name brand stores and car dealerships out there. There were Toyota dealerships, Audi dealerships,, Mercedes, etc.
While I was in St. Lucia I realized that everyone who visits St. Lucia visits for their Honeymoon and rightfully so. On top of the island being super fun and beautiful, you just feel a romantic vibe when you are in St. Lucia. I frequently travel so I have been able to occur a lot of SkyMiles points with Delta Airlines. Delta made an airline mistake – which is more common than you probably think and dropped the price for a roundtrip flight to 22,000 miles! If you are not familiar with Skymiles that is an incredible deal - I paid 15,000 skymiles just to travel to Chicago! (Book your travel through The Fare Way - they catch all the best deals). Although I was supposed to wait on my future husband to go to St. Lucia there was no way I could pass up this deal!
We booked our hotel two days before we arrived in St. Lucia – talk about cutting it close! I snagged us a deal for 5 nights at the Windjammer villas for around 800.00 total through The Fare Way. That may sound expensive but we stayed at a 5-star resort, we had our own outside villa, many of the villas come with your own personal jacuzzi. There’s a spa on the resort and a bunch of restaurants and bars. To get around the resort there is a lot of walking so whenever you want to go to the somewhere on the resort you just call a shuttle that will take you for free. The shuttles come really fast, so don’t do like and call them when your half way ready…. THEY WILL LEAVE YOU!
Where I stayed was about an hour and a half away from the airport but the drive went by swiftly because it’s beautiful every inch of the island. If you don’t get an opportunity to visit the “black sand beach” while on vacation in St. Lucia you can see the black sand as you travel to and from the airport! While driving to our hotel we noticed cows and horses just roaming the middle of the street and we noticed bananas being grown on every tree. When we were travelling to the airport to leave St. Lucia we stopped to take pictures three times - that's how beautiful the drive is.
As soon as we arrived at the Windjammer they welcomed us with the strongest, most delicious Rum Punch I ever had. Once we checked in we headed to our villa to get settled in and ready for the beach. The first day was filled with relaxing on the beach and feeding stray cats. The hotel staff is really nice so that night I went out to a street party with one of the guys from the hotel! The street party was the most “lit” party I’ve ever been to! There was loud music, tons of locals and tourist and cheap liquor! You will notice that St. Lucia is a expensive island for tourism so to save money eat and drink where the locals do or at your all-inclusive resort.
The second day we enjoyed breakfast at the Windjammer! The breakfast was yummy, ESPECIALLY THE BREAKFAST POTATOES. (I'm a carb junky). The second day was really a day of relaxation for us as well just hanging out on the beach. During the night we stopped by a casino and lost some of our money, we did outside karaoke downtown and we hopped from a few clubs that night. The only club I remember the name of was Ultra Lounge. The club scene isn’t very memorable but maybe that's because their best parties happen in the middle of the street.
My third day in St. Lucia was the most EPIC part of any vacation I’ve ever been on. During our stay at the Windjammer they also gave us deals to go zipling, snorkeling, on a boat around St. Lucia, and mud bathing. Our first stop of the day was to go into the Piton Mountains and mud bathe inside of the volcano. The sulfur smells like rotten eggs but it was such a dope experience I don’t think any of us cared that we smelled repulsive. When we were finished we were told to wash off so that we could head off to our next adventure. Immediately after leaving out of the Volcano I noticed that this dark spot on my skin that had been there for months was mysteriously gone. I did not have any face blemishes for a month following my trip to St. Lucia. My mom jokes that she needs to start going every 6 months because since we've returned she hasn't needed to use lotion.
We had the option of either zipling or horse backing in our package for an additional 60.00 USD a person! Everyone picked the ziplines which were 7 ziplines. I got stuck a couple of times and had to be rescued while on the ziplines! (Talk about embarrassing). Ziplining is fun, however as a “preciously plumped” individual I think my lines were faster than others. Once we finished zipling they had a St. Lucian lunch prepared for us!
After our St. Lucian lunch we went over to go snorkeling. I have the iPhone X and they say it’s waterproof but I wasn’t taking any chances with having a water damaged phone so unfortunately, I didn’t get pictures from under the water but I did see a few Nemo’s and Dori’s. I am 5 feet even and I cannot swim so I refused to go pass shore. Many of the people who went deeper into the water explained seeing a multitude of gorgeous, abstract fish.
After all the fun we had, we road the boat back to our hotel. The boat ride was an hour long but it was an hour of super fun. I joined in with 3 other girls from New Orleans, Scotland and one other place in a beer drinking competition. I went to college so I am a beer pong and flip cup enthusiast! Unfortunately, all my crazy college nights still didn’t prepare me for this… at all! I came in last place ☹. Throughout the rest of the boat ride they provided us with free drinks the remainder of the ride. I think it goes without saying that every person on the boat would’ve failed a “walk the line” test immensely after the boat ride!
Unfortunately, my vacation ended on day 4. That morning we ate a delicious breakfast again at the Windjammer. Our favorite bartender at the resort Mr. Alex made us some of his special drinks before the road! If you ever get an opportunity to visit, tell him I sent you and you want his special drink. We enjoyed the view for a while but we had to get back on the road for our hour and a half drive back to the airport. During the visit I met a guy friend that worked at the hotel so he rode back with us and stopped us at cool site seeing places on the way back.
Guys I’m telling you book this vacation today through The Fare Way! Make sure to visit Jeanmal and Tyler. (Tell them I sent you and you’ll save 10% on all of my Day 3 activities).
